Publishing & Printing
ISBNs, metadata, categories, pricing, print setup and worldwide distribution, all configured correctly the first time. The difference is whose name is on the accounts: yours. Retailers pay you directly, we take no commission, and if you ever want to leave, you take everything with you.
Printed and distributed
The Service
Publishing a book is a series of unglamorous technical decisions — which categories, which keywords, what price, which territories, what discount to the trade, returns on or off. Get them wrong and a good book simply never surfaces.
We set all of it up properly. Your ISBNs are registered to you as the publisher of record, not to us and not to a retailer’s free imprint, which means the book stays yours across every platform. Metadata is written for discovery: BISAC and Thema categories chosen from where the readers actually are, keywords researched against real search demand, and a description formatted for each retailer’s quirks.
Then distribution. Amazon in every marketplace for print and Kindle, plus Apple Books, Kobo and Google Play, plus the IngramSpark trade catalogue that makes your book orderable by high-street bookshops and library suppliers across the UK and beyond.
What Publishing Involves
Each one is straightforward on its own. Doing all six correctly, in the right order, is where most independent launches come unstuck.
A separate ISBN for each format, registered with you named as publisher, plus your own imprint name if you want one. Registered on the UK Nielsen database so booksellers can actually find the record.
The single highest-leverage hour in a launch. Categories chosen where your book can realistically rank, keywords researched against genuine search volume, and comparison titles set to place you beside the right neighbours.
Copies printed only when ordered, so you never buy a pallet of books that lives in your garage. Paper stock, binding and finish specified per format, with proof copies sent to you before the book goes live.
When you need five hundred copies for a launch, a conference or a corporate order, offset printing drops the unit cost substantially. We manage the quote, the proof and the delivery to your door.
Listings built and configured across every major retailer and the Ingram trade catalogue, with territory rights, regional pricing and trade discount settings chosen deliberately rather than left on defaults.
Retail price modelled against print cost, category norms and the royalty band that actually pays best, plus the tax and banking setup so international earnings reach you without being withheld unnecessarily.
The Important Part
A great many publishing services put their own name on your ISBN, open retailer accounts in their name and pay you a share of what comes in. We do the opposite, deliberately. Every account is opened in your name with your login and your bank details attached, so Amazon pays you, not us. There is no exclusivity clause, no term and no exit fee. If you decide to move on, nothing needs to be transferred, because it was never ours.
Talk to a ConsultantHow It Works
Around a week once your interior and cover are locked, plus retailer review time before the listings go live.
Accounts are opened in your name, ISBNs assigned per format and your imprint registered. Banking and tax details are configured so payments reach you cleanly.
We research categories and keywords, write the retailer descriptions, and model your pricing against print cost and the royalty bands for each market.
A physical proof copy is printed and sent to you. Nothing goes live until you have held the book, checked the colour and signed it off.
Listings publish across every agreed retailer and the Ingram catalogue. We verify each one appears correctly and hand you every login and password.
Distribution Reach
Your book listed where readers already shop, in the formats they already buy, priced correctly for each market.
The Kingswell Difference
We are a British publishing services company, not a rights-taking publisher. That single distinction shapes everything below.
Copyright stays registered in your name and retailer accounts are opened in your name. We take no commission and no revenue share — one hundred per cent of what your book earns is paid straight to you.
No ticket queues and no being passed between departments. A single publishing consultant coordinates every specialist on your book and stays your point of contact from first call to launch day.
A thriller needs different instincts to a memoir, and a business book different rigour to a children’s picture book. Your project is staffed by people with a track record in your specific genre.
We tell you what your book genuinely needs and what it does not. Every quote is agreed in writing before work begins, so there are no mid-project surprises and no upselling.
Your manuscript is only ever seen by the specialists working on it. NDAs come as standard and your identity, your story and your ideas are never shared or reused.
Based in Fitzrovia, London. We work in UK English by default, price in pounds sterling, and typeset to the trade standards British readers and booksellers expect.

Tell us where your book stands and what you want it to do. A senior publishing consultant will give you an honest read on what it needs, how long it will take and what it will cost — even if the answer is that you do not need us yet.
Tell us where your book is up to. We will map the route to publication, the formats worth doing and what each one will earn you per sale.
